By Jason Uvios
Maintaining your new scooter is going to be a task that will extend the life of your scooter. Without maintaining, cleaning and repairing your scooter occasionally you will find you do not enjoy your scooter as much or it could be that your scooter is more difficult to drive and operate. Maintaining your scooter is vital to the operations of your scooter daily, weekly and for the years to come.

Maintaining Your Scooter – Read The Manual
Every type of scooter will be a little different, requiring some amount of maintenance. All scooters are sold new, with an owner’s manual as a car or vehicle is. Referring back to your owner’s manual will give you the best personal information about your scooter.

Daily maintenance of your scooter involved actually very little. Even the scooter that you are using daily will require only a few tasks, a few moments of your time. Wiping down the scooter daily will prevent all types of build up and problems in the long run. The side panels, the seat, and the handlebars should be wiped down on the days you use the scooter more often.

Check the battery levels daily. In using the scooter daily you may only need to charge it weekly, but if you are using the scooter more than six hours a day you may find you need to charge the battery more often.

You can purchase a new battery where you purchased your scooter. Scooter batteries are not available in most area store, but you can easily find them in many medical supply houses, and where

scooters are sold. Generally a scooter battery, a chargeable battery is going to last at least five years.

The handlebars on the scooter will need wiped down daily. Monthly you can inspect for cracks and broken plastic areas. Rubber or plastic handle pieces are available for replacement through the retailer where you have purchased the scooter. Slipping the grip off the end, and then gently guiding the new grip on the handlebar and pushing it into place easily replace most handlebar grips.
